Andrew Freeman - Director

Andrew Freeman is the former Director of Demos Finance and Managing Director of Cambridge Research Associates, which provides research and thought leadership services for professional services firms. Prior to this he was Executive Director at the Centre for Financial Services at Deloitte and a founder member of McKinsey & Company‚Äôs risk practice. A Risk Fellow at the Cambridge Judge Business School, Andrew is also a former banking editor of the Economist. In 2013, he wrote the report 'Finance for Growth', and in November 2014 launched the first Finance Foundation report, 'Heroes or Zeros'. A regular commentator in the media, including Radio 4's Today programme, Andrew can be viewed here discussing risk complexity.

Hilary Cooper

After completing a masters in economics, followed by a short period as a banking intern, Hilary joined the government economic service, working as a labour market analyst before moving into senior policy and operational roles, including four years as Director of HR and Diversity. Author of the Bluffer's Guide to Economics, and an occasional feature writer, she has pursued a freelance career since 2011. She has worked on retail finance regulation for Demos Finance 'Putting Customers First', and published research for The Finance Foundation on financial exclusion in later life "When I'm 84". Locking the Door on the Older Old: the Challenge Facing Britain's Banks. Hilary's most recent work is a report for the Chartered Banker Institute: Diversity: Pay, Progression and Gender.


James Daley

James Daley is a consumer rights campaigner, award-winning financial journalist and founder of the consumer group, Fairer Finance. James spent the first decade of his career in the newspaper industry, including five years at The Independent, where he was the Personal Finance Editor. He went on to spend four years working for the consumer group, Which?, before setting up his own company, Fairer Finance, which ranks banks and insurers based on how well they treat their customers.

Patricia specialises in promoting social enterprise and responsible investing as founder and principal consultant of Integriti Capital. She brings over 20 years experience of financial markets and strategic communications expertise having led the Financial Services practice in London for two leading communications consultancies as well as spending15 years in global investment banking, as a senior European Debt Capital Markets executive and overseeing international communications. She is a member of the Responsible Investment Advisory Committee of the BVCA, chairs the Development Board of the Black Cultural Archives, is Chair of Friends of International House and a trustee of The Student View.


Paul Hoskins

Paul is a journalist, writer and editor.  A former Chief Equities Correspondent at Reuters, he has spent 15 years reporting on business, economics and politics from across Europe. He covered the boom and bust; was in Frankfurt for the birth of the euro; and was despatched to Athens and Dublin at the height of the euro zone crisis. Between 2008 and 2012 Paul led a team of journalists covering British business news for Reuters. When regulators and politicians began clamping down on banks, Paul was among the first to seriously and methodically challenge the growing orthodoxy in the business media that banks would quit the UK if they were too harshly treated. He has a degree in Modern History & Modern Languages from Oriel College, Oxford and a masters degree in Acting from East 15.

Katja is a marketing and communication professional with financial services experience. She is passionate abaout developing and implementing communication and marketing initiatives, which she has successfully achieved in her previous areas of employment. She holds an MSc in Business Administration and Organisational Communication from Copenhagen Business School. Katia will be working with The Finance Foundation to support their events programme.
